Class Favorite--yummy red made from Mourvedre (Rhone grape), called Monastrell in Spain.  Top 100 Wine of 2008 in the Wine Spectator.  Tasted in Anita LaRaia's Wine School, Atlanta--March 2009.  WOW!
Juan Gil--100% Monastrell--Jumilla--Spain--2006--$19   (Available Marietta Wine Market www.mariettawinemarket.com )  The hit of our "Wine 101" class in their tasting room.  Deep color & richness, but smooth.
Vina Borgia (by Bodega Borsao)--Campo de Borja D.O.--100% Garnacha (Grenache)--Spain--2007--$6.99   (Jorge Ordonez Selection--widely available--in Atlanta, importer is Atlanta Improvement Co., and distributor is Prestige www.prestigewine.com )  Very good value for money, perfect everyday drinking.  Tasted in Anita LaRaia's Wine School, April 2009.
Reserve Estey--Medoc--2006--$8 (Available at Trader Joe's in Atlanta)  Well-known producer Calvet has made an incredible great value for money red Bordeaux in this eminently drinkable and chillable wine.  Rich color, good body, and some "forest berry" flavors make this a hot climate treat with grilled steak, burgers or Gyros made with lamb.  Tasted June 2009.

More to come--notes from our Wine Tour of Piedmont, Italy--and Wine & Chocolate class.
